1543 — Battle of Wayna Daga
The Battle of Wayna Daga (Amharic for "grape-cultivating altitude") occurred on 21 February 1543 east of Lake Tana in Ethiopia. Led by the Emperor Galawdewos, the combined army of Ethiopian and Portuguese troops defeated the Adal-Ottoman army led by Imam Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi. Tradition states that Ahmad was killed by a Portuguese musketeer, who had charged alone into the Muslim lines.

1612 — Battle of Kölleryd
The Battle of Kölleryd (Swedish: Slaget vid Kölleryd; Danish: Slaget ved Skillinge/Skillingehed) took place at Skällinge parish on 21 February 1612 during the Kalmar War. The Swedes were commanded by John of Östergötland and Jesper Mattson Cruus, while the Danes were commanded by King Christian IV. The battle ended in a Swedish victory.

1849 — Battle of Gujrat
(For the Battle of Gujarat, see Battle of Surat.) The Battle of Gujrat was a decisive battle in the Second Anglo-Sikh War, fought on 21 February 1849, between the forces of the East India Company, and a Sikh army in rebellion against the Company's control of the Sikh Empire, represented by the child Maharaja Duleep Singh who was in British custody in Lahore. The Sikh army was defeated by the British regular and Bengal Army forces of the British East India Company. After it capitulated a few days later, the Punjab was annexed to the East India Company's territories and Duleep Singh was deposed.

1863 — First Battle of Nowa Wieś
The First Battle of Nowa Wies took place on 21 February 1863 near the village of Nowa Wies, Russian-controlled Congress Poland. It was one of many skirmishes of the January Uprising, the anti-Russian rebellion of Poles. A group of some 600 Polish insurgents under Ludwik Mieroslawski clashed with 500 soldiers of the Imperial Russian Army. The battle ended in Russian victory.

1880 — 1880 Scottish Cup final
The 1880 Scottish Cup final was the seventh final of the Scottish Cup and the final of the 1879–80 Scottish Cup, the most prestigious knockout football competition in Scotland. The match was played at Cathkin Park in Crosshill (today part of Glasgow) on 21 February 1880 and was watched by a crowd estimated as anything between 5,000 and 8,000 spectators.

1885 — 1885 Scottish Cup final
The 1885 Scottish Cup final was the 12th final of the Scottish Cup and the final of the 1884–85 Scottish Cup, the most prestigious knockout football competition in Scotland. For only the second time in the competition's history, the final was contested by two teams from outside Glasgow: Renton, who had never won the cup before, and three-time winners Vale of Leven, representing neighbouring communities in Dunbartonshire (their home grounds were approximately 1.6 miles (2.6 km) apart). The original match - which ended in a 0–0 draw - was played at the second Hampden Park in Crosshill (today part of Glasgow) on 21 February 1885 and was watched by a crowd of 3,000 spectators.

1918 — Capture of Jericho
The Capture of Jericho occurred between 19 and 21 February 1918 to the east of Jerusalem beginning the Occupation of the Jordan Valley during the Sinai and Palestine Campaign of the First World War. Fighting took place in an area bordered by the Bethlehem–Nablus road in the west, the Jordan River in the east, and north of a line from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea. Here a British Empire force attacked Ottoman positions, forcing them back to Jericho and eventually across the Jordan River. Winter rains put an end to campaigning after the advance from the Gaza–Beersheba line to the capture of Jerusalem in December 1917.

1921 — 1921 Persian coup d'état
1921 Persian Coup (Persian: کودتای ۳ اسفند ۱۲۹۹) refers to several major events in Iran (Persia) in 1921, which eventually led to the establishment of the Pahlavi dynasty as the ruling house of the country in 1925. The events began with a coup led by leaders of the Persian Cossack Brigade such as Colonel Mohammad Taghi Pessian, and directed by the British, on 21 February 1921. With this coup the British established Rezā Khan as the most powerful person in Iran. The coup was largely bloodless and faced little resistance.

A referendum on the formation of the United Arab Republic and appointing Gamal Abdel Nasser as its president was held in Syria on 21 February 1958, alongside a simultaneous referendum in Egypt. The formation of the UAR was approved by 100% of voters, with only 139 voting against, whilst Nasser was approved as president by a similar margin.

General elections were held in India between 17 and 21 February 1967 to elect 520 of the 523 members of the fourth Lok Sabha, an increase of 15 from the previous session of Lok Sabha. The Marlborough by-election of 1970 was a by-election for the electorate of Marlborough, held on 21 February 1970 during the 30th New Zealand Parliament. The by-election resulted from the death of Tom Shand on 11 December 1969, only 12 days after he (and the government) had been re-elected on 29 November; and the new National candidate was defeated by the greatest swing against a government since the 1935 general election, in what was a largely rural electorate generally regarded a safe National seat. Tom Shand had held the seat from 1946, when he defeated Labour’s Edwin Meachen.

The Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971 is a United Nations treaty designed to control psychoactive drugs such as , barbiturates, benzodiazepines, and psychedelics signed in Vienna, Austria on 21 February 1971. The Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961 could not ban the many newly discovered psychotropics, since its scope was limited to drugs with cannabis, coca, and opium-like effects. During the 1960s such drugs became widely available, and government authorities opposed this for numerous reasons, arguing that along with negative health effects, drug use led to lowered moral standards.

Libyan Arab Airlines Flight 114 was a regularly scheduled international passenger flight from Tripoli, Libya, to Cairo, Egypt, through Benghazi in Libya. The flight was shot down on 21 February 1973 by two Israeli McDonnell Douglas F-4 fighter jets after it mistakenly entered the airspace of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula – then under Israeli occupation – resulting in the death of 108 passengers and crew, with 5 survivors.

The 1975 South African presidential election resulted in the unanimous election of Nicolaas Johannes Diederichs of the National Party by Parliament to the position of State President on February 21, 1975. Diedrichs was sworn in on April 19, 1975 during an official ceremony at the Groote Kerk (large church) of Cape Town. Nicolaas Johannes Diederichs would die 3 years later after a short illness, of a heart attack on 21 August 1978 in Cape Town.
