1331 — Battle of Pyzdry (1331)

The Battle of Pyzdry took place on 27 July 1331 between the Teutonic Order led by Dietrich von Altenburg and the Kingdom of Poland. On 22 July 1331, Teutonic forces crossed the Vistula at Wyszogród and ravaged through Bydgoszcz, Inowrocław, and Słupca, reaching Pyzdry on 27 July. The city was captured in the absence of Prince Casimir as the future king had been evacuated, leaving the troops in Pyzdry led by the governor of Poznań Vincent of Szamotuł. Pyzdry was captured, looted and burned. Polish forces were too weak to break the branches of the Teutonic Knights and after incurring severe losses withdrew west in the direction of Poznań.

1675 — Battle of Salzbach

The Battle of Salzbach or Sasbach was fought July 27, 1675, between the armies of France and the Holy Roman Empire, during the Franco-Dutch War. The term "battle" is something of a misnomer because the encounter consisted primarily of an artillery duel. However, it was costly for the French: the great French marshal, the Vicomte de Turenne, was killed by a cannonball.

The Battle of Killiecrankie (Gaelic: Cath Raon Ruairidh) was fought between Highland Scottish clans supporting King James II and VII and troops supporting King William of Orange on 27 July 1689, during the first Jacobite uprising. Although it was a stunning victory for the Jacobites, it had little overall effect on the outcome of the war and left their leader dead. 1864 — Battle of Massard Prairie

The Action at Massard Prairie on July 27, 1864, exemplified the hit-and-run nature of the Civil War in Arkansas on the western border: this was a war of raids and ambushes involving small forces, not drawn-out, large-scale battles. As a Confederate victory, it also demonstrated the difficulty faced by Union units attempting to exert control over the state during the war’s later stages. Following the failure of Union General Frederick Steele’s Camden Expedition in April 1864, Confederate and Union roles on the frontier reversed. Union forces now attempted to hold the line of the Arkansas River against Confederate raids, while emboldened Confederates became more aggressive in their operations.

The 2002 New Zealand general election was held on 27 July 2002 to determine the composition of the 47th New Zealand Parliament. It saw the reelection of Helen Clark's Labour Party government, as well as the worst-ever performance by the opposition National Party. Arguably the most controversial issue in the election campaign was the end of a moratorium on genetic engineering, strongly opposed by the Green Party. Some commentators have claimed that the tension between Labour and the Greens on this issue was a more notable part of the campaign than any tension between Labour and its traditional right-wing opponents.
