1619 — Battle of Humenné
The Battle of Humenné (Hungarian: Homonnai csata, Polish: bitwa pod Humiennem or pierwsza odsiecz wiedeńska) took place on November 23, 1619 near Humenné (eastern Slovakia) during the first period of the Thirty Years' War between the Transylvanian army and the Polish forces of Lisowczycy. It was the only battle of that war to involve the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The battle was won by the Polish cavalry led by Walenty Rogawski against the Transylvanian corps commanded by George Rákóczi, the future Prince of Transylvania.

1650 — Action of 23 November 1650
The Action of 23 November 1650 was a minor naval battle between Spain and France, in which a small Spanish squadron of 6 galleys commanded by Don Francisco Fernández de la Cueva, Duke of Alburquerque, captured an entirety of a French squadron of galleons under the Baron de Ligny, near Cambrils, during the Franco-Spanish War (1635-1659). The French fleet consisted of a galleon of 500 tons and 30 cannons, 2 of 300 tons with 20 cannons, and the last of 300 tons and 16 cannons.

1745 — Battle of Hennersdorf
The Battle of Hennersdorf, sometimes referred to as Catholic-Hennersdorf, was a minor encounter that took place on November 23, 1745 in Katholisch-Hennersdorf in Silesia (Prussia, present-day Poland) during the War of the Austrian Succession. The Prussians under Frederick II defeated the Austrians under Prince Charles Alexander of Lorraine. The Prussians surprised the Austrians and Saxons in their cantonments in Lusatia with the most success at Hennersdorf. There a force of two regiments of hussars and two regiments of cuirassiers under Zieten attacked a small force of two battalions of Saxon infantry and three regiments of Saxon cavalry.

1808 — Battle of Tudela
The Battle of Tudela (23 November 1808) saw an Imperial French army led by Marshal Jean Lannes attack a Spanish army under General Castaños. The battle resulted in the complete victory of the Imperial forces over their adversaries. The combat occurred near Tudela in Navarre, Spain during the Peninsular War, part of a wider conflict known as the Napoleonic Wars. Spanish casualties were estimated to be about 4,000 dead and 3,000 prisoners out of a total force of 33,000. The French and Poles lost no more than 600 dead and wounded out of a total of 30,000.

Voters chose four representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for President and Vice President. 1899 — Battle of Belmont (1899)
The Battle of Belmont is the name of an engagement of the Second Boer War on 23 November 1899, where the British under Lord Methuen assaulted a Boer position on Belmont kopje. Methuen's three brigades were on their way to raise the Boer siege of Kimberley. A Boer force of about 2,000 men had entrenched on the range of Belmont kopje to delay their advance. Methuen sent the Guards Brigade on a night march to outflank the Boers, but due to faulty maps the Grenadier Guards found themselves in front of the Boer position instead.

The Massacre of the Sixty, or Black Saturday (Amharic: ጥቁሩ ቅዳሜ?, tikuru kidami), took place on the morning of 23 November 1974 (Ethiopian calendar: 14 Hidar 1967), when 60 imprisoned former government officials were executed by the Derg at Kerchele prison (commonly called Alem Bekagn - "Farewell to the World") in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It was considered the sudden death of the hopes that Ethiopia's revolution, barely ten weeks old, could remain bloodless, as epitomised by the slogan "Ityopiya tikdem, yala mimin dem” — “Let Ethiopia progress, without any bloodshed”. It presaged the Red Terror and Ethiopian Civil War that would follow.

Survivor Series (2008) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), took place on November 23, 2008, at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, It was presented by THQ's WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009. The event, the 22nd Survivor Series, involved wrestlers from WWE's all three brands, Raw, SmackDown and ECW. The event's card consisted of six professional wrestling matches. The event received 319,000 pay-per-view buys, less than the previous year's event. The main event was for the World Heavyweight Championship between John Cena, and the champion, Chris Jericho, which Cena won by pinfall after executing an FU.

Shoot Boxing World Tournament 2010 or S-Cup 2010 was a shoot boxing event promoted by Caesar Takeshi. It was the seven bi-annual (70kg/154lbs weight class) Shoot Boxing World Tournament, featuring an eight-man single elimination format, with one reserve fight, all fought under Shoot Boxing Rules. The eight finalists and two reserve fighters were a mixture of invitees or had been involved in previous events (for more detail on this see the bulleted list below). As well as tournament matches there were also two 'Opening Fights', a 'Women's Fight' and three 'Super Fights' all fought under Shoot Boxing Rules (various weight classes).

The Bombardment of Yeonpyeongdo (Korean: 연평도 포격전) was an artillery engagement between the North Korean military and South Korean forces stationed on the island Yeonpyeongdo on 23 November 2010. Following a South Korean artillery exercise in disputed waters near the island, North Korean forces fired around 170 artillery shells and rockets at Yeonpyeongdo, hitting both military and civilian targets. Shelling caused widespread damage on Yeonpyeongdo.

Survivor Series (2014) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE. It took place on November 23, 2014 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The 28th event under the Survivor Series chronology, this edition was notable for the first appearance of former World Championship Wrestling (WCW) wrestler Sting in WWE, who had a long hold out from the day that he had signed with the company. Also, this was the first Survivor Series since 2001's Survivor Series, where its not to be featured the World title match. Eight matches took place at the event.

A presidential election was held in Tunisia on 23 November 2014, a month after the parliamentary election. It was the first free and fair presidential election since the country gained independence in 1956, as well as the first regular presidential election after the Tunisian Revolution of 2011 and the adoption of the Constitution in January 2014. Since no candidate won a majority during the first round of voting, a second round between incumbent Moncef Marzouki and Nidaa Tounes candidate Beji Caid Essebsi took place on 21 December. On 22 December official results showed that Essebsi won the election, with 55.68% of the run-off vote.
