The Battle of Cavan took place in Cavan, Ireland on 11 February 1690 between forces of Williamite and Jacobite troops during the Williamite War in Ireland. It ended in a victory for the Protestant Williamites who captured, sacked and burned the town of Cavan before withdrawing to their forwarding base at Belturbet and further afield Enniskillen The local Protestant commander Colonel William Wolseley had been instructed by his overall commander Marshal Schomberg to observe and harry Cavan, as Jacobites were using it as a forwarding base to launch relief raids across Ulster for Jacobite forces.

The Battle of Montmirail (11 February 1814) was fought between a French force led by Emperor Napoleon and two Allied corps commanded by Fabian Wilhelm von Osten-Sacken and Ludwig Yorck von Wartenburg. In hard fighting that lasted until evening, French troops including the Imperial Guard defeated Sacken's Russian soldiers and compelled them to retreat to the north. Part of Yorck's Prussian I Corps tried to intervene in the struggle but it was also driven off. The battle occurred near Montmirail, France during the Six Days Campaign of the Napoleonic Wars. Montmirail is located 51 kilometres (32 mi) east of Meaux.

The LAPD Red Squad raid on the John Reed Club art show raid took place in Los Angeles, California, United States, on Saturday, February 11, 1933. The LAPD Red Squad, the police department's anti-radical unit, crashed a political meeting and art show hosted by a number of leftist organizations. Red Squad members destroyed several works of art in a manner that suggested racial animus as well as an anti-communist motive.

The 1933 Copa Beccar Varela Final was the final that decided the winner of the 2nd edition of the Argentine domestic cup. The cup was contested by Racing Club (for second consecutive time), and Rosarian Club Central Córdoba. The match was held in River Plate Stadium on February 11, 1934. The match was suspended after 88 minutes when Racing players abandoned the field in protest of a penalty kick awarded to Central Córdoba.

The Harwich by-election, 1954 was a parliamentary by-election held on 11 February 1954 for the British House of Commons constituency of Harwich in England. The seat had become vacant when the National Liberal Member of Parliament (MP) Stanley Holmes was elevated to the peerage as Baron Dovercourt, having held the seat since a 1935 General Election. The 'Conservative and Liberal' candidate, Julian Ridsdale held the seat for the government. He remained the constituency's MP until his retirement at the 1992 general election. The Labour candidate Shirley Catlin would later, under the name Shirley Williams, be elected as MP for Hitchin and would serve in the Cabinets of Harold Wilson and James Callaghan.

Elections to the Andhra State Legislative Assembly were held on 11 February 1955. 581 candidates contested for the 167 constituencies in the Assembly. There were 29 two-member constituencies and 138 single-member constituencies. The members of the first assembly (1955–62) were allowed a seven-year term. That is to say, in 1957, elections were conducted in the newly added region of Telangana alone, and then in 1962, general elections were held for the state as a whole.

General elections were held in Antigua and Barbuda on 11 February 1971. They were won by the Progressive Labour Movement. PLM leader George Walter was elected Premier of Antigua, defeating the incumbent Premier Vere Bird of the Antigua Labour Party. The PLM was founded in 1967 after a split in the leadership of the Antigua Trades and Labour Union; this was its first election, as well as its first and only electoral victory.

On 11 February 1978, Pacific Western Airlines Flight 314, a Boeing 737-200, crashed at Cranbrook/Canadian Rockies International Airport, near Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada, killing 43 of the 49 people on board. The scheduled flight from Fort McMurray International Airport to Castlegar Airport via Edmonton, Alberta, Calgary, Alberta and Cranbrook, British Columbia crashed after its thrust reversers did not fully stow following an aborted landing to avoid a snowplow on the runway.

Parliamentary elections were held in Haiti on 11 February 1979. Around 300 candidates contested the election, almost all of whom were supporters of President Jean-Claude Duvalier. All but one of the seats in the Chamber of Deputies were won by candidates of the National Unity Party (the sole legal party at the time), whilst the other was won by an independent in Cap-Haïtien.

Members were elected using the multiple non-transferable vote in fifteen constituencies, with an average district magnitude of thirteen. The result was a victory for the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, which won 130 of the 195 seats.

Nelson Mandela was released from Victor Verster Prison near Paarl after more than twenty-seven years in custody. His release followed President F. W. de Klerk's announcement that the African National Congress and other banned organizations would be legalized. Crowds watched as Mandela left prison with Winnie Mandela, and he later addressed supporters in Cape Town. The event became an international symbol of the movement against apartheid, but it did not immediately end the political conflict or racial legislation. Mandela subsequently participated in difficult negotiations that helped lead to South Africa's first national election based on universal adult suffrage in 1994.

The 2000 Labour Party in Wales leadership election was held on 11 February 2000 after the resignation of Alun Michael as first secretary of Wales and leader of the Labour Party in Wales on 9 February 2000. Rhodri Morgan, who had unsuccessfully challenged Michael in the previous leadership election in 1999, was elected unopposed as the new leader of the party in the National Assembly for Wales and was later nominated unopposed by the assembly as the new first secretary on 15 February.

Presidential elections were held in Cape Verde on 11 February 2001, with a second round on 25 February after no candidate achieved outright victory in the first round. The result was a victory for Pedro Pires of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde, who defeated Carlos Veiga of the Movement for Democracy by just twelve votes. Pires, a former Prime Minister, took office on 22 March 2001, replacing António Mascarenhas Monteiro, who stood down after completing two terms in office.

The Battle of the Buliok Complex took place on 11 February 2003 in an area within the provinces of Maguindanao and Cotabato in Mindanao, Philippines. The 60-hectare complex, which stretches from Pikit, Cotabato to Pagalungan, Maguindanao, was a stronghold of the Muslim separatist Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). Accused by the Philippine government of harboring members of Pentagon, a notorious kidnap-for-ransom gang operating in Mindanao, the MILF was attacked in the Buliok complex by the Armed Forces of the Philippines under orders from then-President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

The 2003 Fort Lauderdale mayoral election took place on February 11, 2003. Incumbent Mayor Jim Naugle ran for re-election to a fifth term, and was challenged by City Commissioner Tim Smith. Naugle, a Democrat, frustrated local Democrats when he endorsed Republican Governor Jeb Bush for re-election in 2002, but Smith attracted little formal support from Democratic leaders. Naugle ultimately defeated Smith by a wide margin, winning 61 percent of the vote.

Indirect presidential elections were held in Trinidad and Tobago on 11 February 2008. The incumbent George Maxwell Richards was expected to be reelected after being approved as the only nominee by 15 MPs on 4 February 2008. The election was held through an electoral college consisting of a joint sitting of the two houses of parliament consisting of 73 representatives, and Richards was reelected as expected. The Opposition party nominated no candidate, in part as a protest to a foregone conclusion of the result and a boycott of the process.

On 11 February 2014, an Algerian Air Force Lockheed C-130H-30 Hercules aircraft crashed into Djebel Fertas mountain near Aïn Kercha, Oum El Bouaghi Province, Algeria; with 74 passengers and 4 crew on board. Seventy-seven bodies were discovered at the site, along with one survivor. Preliminary reports suggest that bad weather conditions might have caused the crash. Eyewitness accounts describe the aircraft clipping a mountain before crashing.This was the first reported air disaster in Algeria since the 2003 crash of Air Algérie Flight 6289. The accident is undergoing investigation.

On February 11, 2016, a gunman identified as 30-year-old teacher Abdullah Jaber Al-Malki (Arabic: عبدالله المالكي), killed seven people and wounded one at an education office in Ad Dair, in Saudi Arabia's Jizan Province bordering Yemen. Five of the victims died at the scene, while two of the injured later died at the Al-Dair General Hospital. Al-Malki was executed in 2021.
